The Village Across the Sea
Originally published in 2010 through the government of Jeju, South Korea,
this new edition is a reimagined version of the original, featuring new photos, interviews and writing.
The Village Across the Sea calls us back to the island of 18,000 gods, to explore Jeju's volcano riddled countryside and its rocky shores, where the legendary haenyeo harvest the sea. Its a place of myths and legends, said to be the dwelling place of spirits, gods and dragons. Many there still follow the island's unique form of shamanism.
Featuring writing from documentary filmmaker, Giuseppe Rositano, journalist, Darryl Coote and novelist, Brett Ivan Crehan, this special reprint celebrates the beauty of the island, its traditions and the people that make Jeju so remarkable.

When I last visited Jeju to do a book signing, we printed a special batch of books, made with great care by a local printing company. These books have exceptional quality due to the personal attention that was given them. They also look different than the books available on Amazon, as they're horizontal rather than vertical.
